On October 17th, Academician Zhao Zhendong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Expert of the Crop Research Institute of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, visited Tengzhou to sign an agreement with Shandong Xinhua New Green Smart Agriculture Co., Ltd. to establish the Zhao Zhendong Academician Workstation. Vice Mayor Qin Shengxue, Director Chen Weitai (Director of the Agricultural Office of the Tengzhou Municipal Party Committee, Director of the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Director of the Rural Revitalization Bureau), Director Yang Qinglin of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Xu Jun (Chairman of Shandong Xinhua Group), Zhu Ying (Chairman of Shandong Xinhua New Green Smart Agriculture Co., Ltd.), Fan Tianqing (General Manager of Shandong Xinhua New Green Smart Agriculture Co., Ltd.), and Kong Lingqiang (Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Director of the Agricultural Technology Extension Center) attended the signing ceremony.
During the ceremony, Academician Zhao Zhendong and Xinhua New Green Smart Agriculture Co., Ltd. signed the academician workstation cooperation agreement. Vice Mayor Qin Shengxue presided over the signing ceremony. Director Chen Weitai provided an overview of the agricultural situation in Tengzhou, and Chairman Zhu Ying reported on the work plan for the academician workstation.
Academician Zhao Zhendong is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a first-level researcher and chief expert at the Crop Research Institute of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and a renowned wheat breeding expert. He has long been engaged in the breeding and promotion of new high-quality, high-yield wheat varieties. His team has successively developed numerous high-yield, high-quality varieties including Jinan 11, Jimai 19, Jimai 20, Jimai 22, Lu Yuan 502, and Jimai 44, which have been planted on over 600 million mu cumulatively across the Huang-Huai wheat region. Academician Zhao has visited Tengzhou many times to provide guidance, has formed deep friendships with the people of Tengzhou, and has made outstanding contributions to elevating Tengzhou's agricultural science and technology capabilities.
The establishment of the academician workstation creates a long-term cooperation and exchange platform between Xinhua New Green and Academician Zhao Zhendong's expert team as well as the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The collaboration will extend beyond the research, development, and promotion of superior agricultural varieties to include comprehensive business cooperation and technical R&D guidance in areas such as high-quality and high-efficiency agriculture, animal husbandry, and aquatic product industries, comprehensively advancing Tengzhou's agricultural and rural development to a new level. Local leaders of Tengzhou stated that they will further improve supporting service measures, actively create favorable conditions, and establish an R&D platform for Academician Zhao Zhendong and his expert team, enabling more scientific and technological achievements to be transformed and applied in Tengzhou, thereby better promoting the development of modern agriculture in Tengzhou.
